Stampin' Up! Summer Mini 2012 Blog Hop

Welcome to the ILWS Stampin' Up summer mini catalogue blog hop.  The summer mini has just been released and as a demo I get to pre-order products to have a play with before they are released.  To showcase some of the things that are now available, I have joined in with a blog hop with other SU demos.  If you have come via the blog hop you would have just visited the lovely Kate.  Now it is my turn, so sit back and I hope you find some inspiration and if that mojo wants to flow and you would like to place an order, (join SU or one of my groups) I have put a link to the summer mini at the end of this post, simply drop me an email I'd love to hear from you.

Anyway, enough of the chit chat... here goes..

From the twitterpated product suite.  SU have introduced the Sizzix Bigz Elegant bird die, it has two die cuts, the wing and the bird shape, this is great as you can do all sorts of things.  Here I have used an embossing folder to add some texture to the wing.  For the card, I have used a plain card blank and used some of the double sided dsp from the twitterpated collection.  SU have introduced some framelets and I have used these to using some real read cardstock and the other side of the sheet of twitterpated dsp.  The bird is layered onto some white cardstock which I have used a stamp from the apothecary art set. I found a matching button and used some of the new baker's twine to finish it off.

Twitterpated dsp (125406 £9.95)
Bigz elegant bird die (125593 £18.95)
Framelits labels collection (125598 £24.95)
Apothecary art stamps (125527 £24.95 clear mount)
Bakers twine pool party (125574 £2.50)
Real red cardstock main catalogue (106578 £6.25)

My second showcase is based on a card idea in the summer mini.  I have used stamps from the new apothecary art set.  The labels in this set have been designed to fit nicely with the new labels framelits.

For the card I have used some old olive and the papers are from the twitterpated dsp set.  I have used one of the sheets to make the half rosettes, these are 1" strips that I have scored using the new simply scored board - to make the folding easier (for me) I score one side at 1/4" intervals and then turn it over and score the other side in between (hope that makes sense!).

Some of the parts to make the whole!

For the "Happiest Birthday" sentiment, I found it easier to trim it down to the size I wanted by holding it up to the light with the frame and then just marking where I wanted to trim the card down.  I used some dimensional foam pads just to raise up the sentiment on the card and there you go :)

Using the other half of the old olive...

To make use of some of the scraps I've made this little card and got the sewing needle out!  Stamped the sentiment frame twice and then die cut it with a framelit and the second one the small circle punch, then just mounted it up, I think it looks nice using two different stamp colours.
