Sunday 25 March 2012

Golly, what a weekend of glorious sunshine here in north Norfolk.  This means the washing line has been made use of and the kids have managed to get out in the garden to shoo away the 'being stuck inside' cobwebs.  The hyacinths are giving a wonderful scent in the garden, as much as I love them, they are too smelly for indoors and so I have just one in the kitchen with some daffs from the garden.  The tulips are budding, they won't be long in saying 'hello'.

I've managed to get some crafty things done, having been shuffling some die cuts from the SU top note die that I had cut out (from the SU brights collection DSP 12x12 paper stack), mojo struck and I used some of them up - I've a pile of candy cane wrappers as well just waiting to be glued down!

SU Top Note Bigz Sizzix Die Cuts

Having played with the heart stamp from the Perfect Postage stamp set the other day, I stamped some of the rabbits with their little balloon and the candle cake and punched them out using the postage stamp punch to make some little birthday cards (I've a craft fair in a couple of weeks).

Perfect Postage stamps

So I can layer my punched out rabbits and candle cakes, I made use of the scallop square punch.

And, voila, one card also using the ribbon punch (I really, really like this punch!) and the sentiments used on the cards are from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set (Hostess  set).

On this one, I trimmed down the Top Note die cut, after all you don't have to use a whole one!

I've made a few in this style for the craft fair, using other colour papers from the DSP paper stack.

Oh, before I finish up, I'm trialling some white wine!  I haven't had this one before, kindly donated by a friend  :)

Happy crafting :)

Saturday 17 March 2012

I started this morning off, moving a bedside lamp in our bedroom this morning, was just going to have a quick dust around, ended up spending two hours moving the room around!!  I had planned on playing with paper etc which I have finally gotten around to as I had one more card to make for the weekend (Mother's Day tomorrow here in the UK).

I'm endeavouring to use up the small pieces of paper that I have left from a sheet of 12x12 rather than putting it in the 'won't throw away as might use it later' folder that sits under my craft desk and which I seem to very rarely tuck into!

I've used up the last of a sheet of double sided paper and some cardstock to make this card.  Used one of the stamps in the perfect postage set and punched it out using the postage stamp punch.  I have been punching out some lace ribbon borders so used one of them and added a bit of ribbon.  And, that's it!

I hope you are having a super Saturday, the weather here is pants so had to don the wellie books and wet weather coat to go to check on the chickens.  The girls seemed happy though, all cuddled up the conifers, interspersed with some egg laying :) And, before I forget, happy St Patrick's Day to my Irish family and friends and everyone else who celebrates.

Sunday Part II

It is a day of playing with paper.  I still have some of the sheet left that I used earlier today but tucked into a different sheet to make another card.  No owl on this one, rather I thought I'd have a go at making a pinwheel.  This is a 3" square piece of paper that I folded on the diagonal and then snipped to about 1cm from the centre point.

I made some holes in the corners which are folded over and one in the middle, just to make it easier with popping the brad through.

And here you have it, one pinwheel ready to go.  Its great that something so easy can look so pretty.

I layered up the papers, edged them with some chocolate chip ink, the piece under the pinwheel is from another sheet in the paper pack.

Stamped the sentiment (using the chocolate chip) and from some of the scraps made a little folded paper thingy which the sentiment is stuck on top of!

This one is a bit easier to see my paper folding attempt!

Sticking on a Sunny Sunday

Spring is in the air and I am punching out owls with my nifty owl punch, I've got a little parliament of them (the collective word for lots of owls!) and guess that, rather than getting totally carried away with creating a parliament, I'd actually make something with them!!  So, I've gone and used a sheet of everyday enchantment paper, just the one sheet as it's double sided, I had been looking at it but as you know, paper is there to be used rather than stroked!  I've got enough of the sheet left to make another couple of cards I guess, and plenty of owls ;)

I've got my first Stampin' Up! 6 group starting this month, so I am looking forward to that.  Finished my first TMA for my OU Worlds of English course.  Read what I need to do for TMA02 and well, better start that sooner rather than later, it no doubt sounds worse than it is (fingers crossed).  Got an x-ray on my dodgy thumb coming up so will find out why it is being such a pain, I've the occupational therapist before I go and have the x-ray so not sure about that, surely you need to be able to see what is going on inside before you start fiddling with things? And, so far this year, gotten rid of 10lbs that I have been carrying around as extra baggage.

Finally, the dafs are out :)
