Card Patterns

Headed over to Card Patterns today and have played with their sketch #96. I even got the cricut fired up to play along, cutting out the scallop circle (a hollow one).  Used a Lili of the Valley stamp for the image, coloured in with copics and watercolour pencils and then some 7gypsies papers and some gingham to finish off.  I have added some crystal glaze and some glittery bits, not sure that you can see them but they are there!!

Bombshell Dec Challenge

So, as there is not much on telly, I went for a blog hop and found myself on the Bombshell blog. They have a December challenge, to stamp but not on paper.  And so here is my take on it, I have used some staz-on {which smells like almonds, is that just me?!} onto some nice red felt.  Got the stapler out, also stamped a sentiment on to some ribbon (with the said almond smelling staz-on).  Brads and using up the old Motifica, here we have my Bombshell challenge card.  I think I may add some little gems later, not now though, I have an eyeball from hell (sore throat and ear pain, great innit) but that doesn't stop you from playing with paper, you just have to find a spurt of mojo/energy to get going.

I have been playing with some of my Lili of the Valley stamps (I am waiting for 11 Jan when some new ones are released!) and thought that I would check out the LOTV blog and hey presto, have played along with the challenge sketch 77.

I have used some of the Basic Grey motifica papers from a 6x6 pad I have had lurking (for a while!).  Happy Birthday is from a Verve stamp set.  The little fella with his toy boat is, you may have guessed, from Lili of the Valley.  Coloured in with copics and watercolour pencils.  I don't think you can see but he is 'popped' out with foam pads and I have also layered an extra sail for even more of a 'pop'.

'tis the Eve

Well, here we are folks, the night before the day of giving and receiving.

The toxic cake is iced, Genny added the decorations - not many it is minimalist approach, it does have a sprinkling of edible glitter on it too - seems to be a bit of a theme this December!!

I am in the process of finishing off a scrapping layout - yes with a pint glass of bombay g&t!

And on the scrapping note, you need to check out the Ribbon Girl giveaway.  You should check it out, it is fab and you know you can never have enough ribbon, nor can you have enough Lili of the Valley stamps (one of my downfalls!).

And, on that note, a Merry Christmas wish to you and thank you for visiting my blog, which isn't much but it makes me happy as do your visits!!

So many...

I had a few 2011 calendars left and a pile of twirled paper and then ended up with the calenders and some of the twirled paper stuck on various forms of display!

I have hanging varieties and card varieties.  Now though, I have no idea on what to do with them all!!! Maybe I should open a little Etsy shop, not that there will be much in it, apart from these!!!  Anyway, it kept me out of mischief for some of the day :)

Three out of one!

I've been a little busy, not doing a lot, but nonetheless not had time to sit down and make anything for a couple of days!!  I started this little card last night, had the urge to do some stitching so it started with making a frill from some Making Memories paper and then having got the mojo working, did some more around a piece of white cardstock.  Then, went to bed!!

During today, the little gingerbread people have been cut from one of my QK dies and the frill and mount have become a card, inspired by Chicken Soup day #11.  Three out of one, frill came from the little ginham bows, the stitching from the stiched gingerbread people and finally, well the gingerbread people!  Now, back to that craft table, I can hear it calling :)  Happy days :)

What's white and falls out of the sky... rather big blobs! Snow, but you knew that [right].  It's off again, in fact it hasn't stopped for a good couple of hours now.  Mojo is taking a back seat, have a couple more cards to do {some soup to catch up on} but I'm afraid, tonight is Vamp night.  So I became a couch spud and watched Vampire Diaries.  The house has some excited children in, it being their last day at school before the holidays tomorrow.  I hope the snow doesn't stop Morgan getting into school.  He is taxied over to Coltishall and it is his leaving day tomorrow, we'll see, it may stop snowing at some point whilst I am catching some Zzzzzzzs.  Oh, and if anyone comes across a sticker that says 'aim here' that goes in the toilet bowl, please let me know.  The wee lad {no pun intended} has a tendency to miss {too frequently}!

Last couple of days for the boy...

..Morgan has just one day really - he is at home on Thursdays as there is no provision for schooling for him - at his current educational placement.  Although it is a PRU rather than an actual school.  His last day is Friday when the schools (here at least) finish for the Christmas/new year break.  2011 will see him go to his new school, in Norwich, where he will be a 'boarder'. This is going to be a big step for us all, only 8/9 in his class, specialist teachers, what more could a boy need (and his parents), but boy am I going to miss him and even though they are chalk and cheese, I bet his siblings will too.  The Wrennie I think more than she knows, Ben10 what is he going to do sleeping on his ownsome, my bet is that the Wrennie will be sleeping over!  One thing though, I won't miss having to wait for late taxis in order to go to work whilst Ben & Wren get taken down to school!!  Why am I posting this, well, it is the end of this era looming and I am going to miss Morgie hugs and he has been really cuddly since he came home from the DBC today!

Snowflakes anyone....

Thankfully, the snow is fading, I don't mind the stuff, what I do mind is having to trek into work with it around. Me and driving in the snow aren't a good combination!!

The Chicken Soup #10 has some wonderful snowflake creations. So, snowflakes it is. You can find instructions for creating this on the www, just look for 3D snowflakes. They are fun and the bigger the paper, the bigger the snowflake!

The recipes are coming to an end shortly.  It has been exciting and the mojo has been getting a good kick up the wotsit!

9... sleigh bells ring...

So, Chicken Soup start the sleigh bell song and I have it in my head all day!  Recipe #9, the trigger is carols for this mojo buster.

I have some papers left (not much!) from the ATDML retreat in November and well, this one, fell out of the baggie and into my lap.  So there you go, fate huh!

Circle punch....

I have come to the conclusion that I need a bigger circle punch.  This came about whilst playing around for Soup day 8.  I will be hunting for a 6cm punch after Christmas!  Anyhoo, the reason for the circle punch was to punch out the 25 from some Echo Park paper, as well as seeing a Christmas pudding I saw a circle and this is what I have come up with for the recipe.

santa and reindeer

For day 7 of the Soup, I have made some tags, this is what popped into my head!!  Tags are cut from a sizzix die I have had for yonks and then just covered with some Graphics45 and I think it is some Flair.  A bit of sparkle added (of course) too, not only the stickles but with some fab glitter spray.

Baubles - Day 6

Playing with the cuttlebug and sizzix die this afternoon to create some baubles!  Inspired by day 6 on the soup blog.

These are quite fun actually, one bauble didn't come out right, stuck the flaps the wrong way round, doh!!

It's coming up to the time of the day when the school run needs to be made, but, in reality I just want to stay in (in the warm!) and continue with this playing with paper and glue and stuff thing that is going on :)

Little Packages - 5th Day

I've finished day 5, yay, of the Chicken Soup. Just this morning mind you and will shortly me moving on to day 6! I knew at some point my pad of Christmas Papermania papers would come in handy!  I covered some card with the pinky/green swirls and then just added some strips, added 'stitching' and then a little bow to finish off.  There is also a bit of glitter too.

....holly inspired for Soup 4.

A holly stamp, stamped onto some green card and then added some promarker colouring. Stamped again (in red) so I could cut out the holly berries. I found some red glossy cardstock so I mounted on that and then again on to some white, I was going to make it into a tag but changed my mind, as you see!  The 'second' berries have been glazed and there is also on the main card stickled leaves and holly berries, to add some sparkle!

On the third day of chicken soup...

Staying with a tree theme here on day 3 of souping.

A simple card and I had a play with some corrugated cardboard, cut into tree shapes, painted and then with some utee and embossing powder added a snow effect to some of the tree.  Not sure if you can see it but I did have to stickle them as well.  Embossed snowflakes and a simple sentiment finish it off.  That was one of those craft things where you had to go do something else whilst the paint dried!  In my case it was souping for number 4.........

Day 2!

So I am only on day two of the soup and it's in reality day 4!  Having to go to work doesn't help in the scheme of things, what a land law assignment to get done as well (which isn't), I would prefer to be at my craft table :)

I have made a start on getting the christmas cards done, albeit slowly.  The tree is up, a little bit help from the kidlets although they seemed more intent on playing oblivion on the 'puter.  And here is chicken soup #2...

Playing catch up...

Ok, so obviously not much on telly, except Vampire Diaries which has been duly watched.  So, I thought I would entertain the mojo that is cooking and started on the Chicken Soup countdown.  So here is my creation for the first day. A little advent countdown, small and simple!

Time again to soup.  I just had vision of a sweet shop, which then turned into buttons!  Having had a bit of craft at Guides on Tuesday, where we made some coaster calenders, I had to make one with buttons as it suited the soup.  So here is my take on chicken soup recipe 22.

Wonderful weather, not!!

So, the weather has turned, snow all over the place!

We had a trip into Norwich last week to get the shopping done for that time of year, quite successful and not quite everything but nearly.

It was cold and we didn't mooch about, just hit the shops that needed to be visited and then back home!

Then Wednesday off into Dereham for some last minute oddments, and a birthday present for MIL this weekend

All quite pretty don't you think, but still too cold!  Thankfully, the Christmas cake is being spiked so there is some brandy in the house to warm the cockles ;)
