Happy Fathers Day

Some friends have lost their dads this year, others are thankfully still with us, and some have just become dads and are starting their journey, Happy Father's Day to you all.

I'm not exactly sure where this week has gone, I know that I spent a bomb in Asda on Wednesday though which included getting some school uniform for a "i'm bour nearly bive" little fella (he is working on his 'f's'), interspersed with going to work!

Made some cards though :)

My cake is a bit wonky, but then I can't see straight anyway! I've put cherries on top instead of the candles stamp which come with the set. Rich razzleberry for the cake and melon mambo for the cherries with some distressed stickles. Just a plain card using whisper white cardstock, I got used my eyelet border punch to create an edging and then the pedestal was stamped straight onto kraft cardstock.

Don't you just love the bambi! Base card is soft suede and I used a brilliance pad for the swirls (which is from the trendy trees set). The trees from forest friends are stamped on to whisper white. I've cut out bambi to raise it up and bit as I have done for 'Thumper" the bunnie! Utilised some primas and a doodlebug brad to finish it off, oh and scallop punched some kraft cardstock which is placed under the white.

I've got something brewing using the trees, just waiting on my stickles to dry :) and it'll have to wait for another day - must feed the brood!

Rooster!

We're planning on increasing the chook population, I have my eye on some Suffolks to join the girls. Or, Orpingtons, I am undecided but I do like the Orpington Blues. Anyway, the chook run has to be expanded before we can get any more girlies. There will be no rooster, despite the demands from the kids!

So, thinking about not having a rooster, I have used my rooster stamp, added a stamped background, some ribbon and used some punches and here we go.

back to playing

Luckily for some at home, my voice is having periods where it disappears! A case of laryngitus having had a tube stuck up my nose and down my throat on Thursday afternoon. Felt totally pants on Friday, so, no work for me and I fell out of bed after 1pm so obviously not right somewhere along the lines.

Feeling a tad better today but the voice still has momentary lapses where it goes on strike.

As it is therapeutic I have managed to get some things done:

Stamping, cutting out and getting out the silicone glue. Matted onto kraft. Using some foam pads to mount the white onto the kraft, and there you have it - boom boom!

Time to blog hop

This is my very first blog hop featuring products which were introduced at the beginning of May. In the scheme of things, you have just been to Heather's blog. Now it is over to me so where we go.

My first card that I want to show you is my first easel card and it was really fun to do.

Firstly, I have tri-folded my A4 card, using my score board, and then decorated the 'easel page' with the Cottage Wall designer paper (dsp) and for the easel simply matted a piece of the Melon Mambo with some dsp. I've then moved on to the front and had a great time with this.
my dsp.

For the main focal point, I've matted the Melon Mambo with some DSP, stamped the flowers which are from the Hello Again stamp set using the new Soft Suede pad, then attached some of the Soft Suede grosgrain ribbon (and got my stapler out to fix it to the mount).

I decided to add a tab to the mount, this is made using the round tab punch and a stamp from the Totally Tabs set. Finally, it's turned out to be a happy birthday card, so I have used the scallop circle punch and stamped a punched 1 1.4" circle with the Happy Birthday stamp from the Circle of Friendship set (keeping the theme and using the Soft Suede pad). The scallop circle is slightly raised using some dimensions, you may be able to see that I have gone around the edge of the scallop with a gold pen. And that's it, my first showcase card for the new products! I hope you like it and are ready to check out my second card!

Number two, this is a A5 card, one to add to my stock of birthday cards.

This is simply the A4 soft suede cardstock trimmed down to make it A5. For the bottom of the card, I have used the Stampin' Around So Swirly with the Soft Suede so that it gives a delicate feel to it, on the Melon Mambo. Then, simply trimmed down a piece of the dsp, using the corner rouder to soften it (I do like the way that the SU coordinate their colours) stamped on the greeting (using Basic Black) which is in the Crazy for Cupcakes set.

The cupcake is from the same set, this has been stamped (again using the soft suede pad) onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and coloured using the Bold Brights watercolour crayons. I decided to trim down the cupcake and before adding it to my card, used a piece of the (rather lovely) Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon. Once I have added the cupcake, raising it up with some dimensionals, I have gone over the 'icing' with some crystal effects, to give it that shiny effect.

Finally, I'm not just a card maker, occasionally (not as much as I would like) I am a scrapbooker!

This is just a simple design. I took a picture of a flower on one of our visits to Pensthorpe, it was just such a beautiful and vibrant colour that I had to snap it. Since it was printed it has sat in my pile of photos to scrap and hey ho, the time has come!

Simply a sheet of 12" x 12" kraft cardstock. I have matted the flower photo onto some of the Rich Razzleberry cardstock and stapled pieces of the new ribbons to it, I edged the mat with some of the dsp and used the eyelet border punch to make it a bit more decorative. Then I have used one of the Frames with a Flourish stamps on a scrap piece of Soft Suede to create my little journalling piece. To finish it off, a Flower Fantasy Window sheet which I have stapled on to the kraft cardstock (you can just lay them on top without fixing as the friction tends to keep them in place.

Blog Hop

Watch this space! The blog hop is coming, I'm ready, the post is scheduled (with a hope that it works as it should).

Today.... make a card for a party that Morgan is off to later. Two kids have shorter hair, and it's warm innit! Me, I'm off to get inky, time to get scrapping I think as I am in the mood.

Ahhh, sunshine

The sun has decided to make an appearance today, great as it's my day off!! UPS made my delivery this morning so I have been cutting up ribbons and getting them packaged off, so those that ordered, watch for the Postie.

Hoping that I can get the 12x12 out later, but, as it's half term it may be a slow crafting day today, Genny loves to craft too so I feel that I am going to have a 9 year old keeping me company. I can keep an eye on her as she has a tendency to wander off with my 'stuff' that is not suitable for children if you get my drift! Lunchtime I am off to meet a work colleague for a latte, off to the post office and generally mooching around today.
